It was 1984, when GIMATEX was born.

The idea is from the father and grandfather of the current owners, Gino Cocci.

In those years Prato, as still today, was the most important textile production center in Europe.

In the first headquarters of the company, the portion of an old textile factory, the fabrics sold were of excellent quality and produced in wool and Prato.

The clientele was almost exclusively Italian.

At the beginning of the 90s, Riccardo begins his collaboration in the company. After a few years, in 1997 the company moved to its current location and enriched the assortment of marketed fabrics, starting with printed and typically Como fabrics.

In the early 2000s, the main markets began to be Russia, Ukraine, Poland and all the Baltic countries, and furnishing fabrics also entered the collection.
